The Rally Organisers Section of the NTET has the important role of providing services and practical advice to the organisers of rallies and event where steam traction engines and other similar vehicles are in attendance to ensure that proper consideration has been given to the welfare of the public, to the exhibitors and to the organisers own staff and helpers

The NTET is an 'Authorising Body' under the terms of The Motor Vehicles (Off Road Events) Regulations 1995. Organisers may apply to have their event 'authorised' by the NTET and in so doing will agree to abide by the Rally Organisers Code of Practice produced by the Rally Organisers Section of the NTET. Where authorisation is given the organiser and the participants will be safe from prosecution under certain important aspects of the Road Traffic Acts.

Importantly the NTET Rally Organisers Code of Practice has been commended by the HSE as an authorative set of guidelines which the organiser should apply to ensure a safe and trouble free event. Part of the service provided to Authorised Events is Safety Audits; these are carried out annually on a random sample of events.

The Rally Organisers Section also produces a pamphlet each year giving details of the 'Authorised events' for that year. The Pamphlet is free and can be found on the NTET Exhibition unit. The information provided in the pamphlet is also reproduced on the NTET website.

Each year the Rally Organisers Section hosts a Rally Organisers Conference which is open to all types of rallies and events. The aim of the conferences is to share ideas and to provide feed back to the Section. In addition to discussions on current issues a guest speaker is usually invited to deliver a presentation relating to a specific topic of interest.

The Rally Organisers Section also holds Safety Seminars aimed at the organisers and staff of authorised events. The seminars revolve about the practical application of the Code of Practice and are generally held at a location near to participating events and clubs. Each session concludes with a simple examination designed to ensure that the topics under discussion have been fully absorbed. Successful completion of the exam results in the award of an 'attendance certificate'.

The NTET acknowledges its duty of care to members and to the general public and accordingly expects members of the Trust to comply with its Health and Safety Policy, a 'pdf' copy of which may be viewed by clicking here.

The NTET is a registered charity (Reg. Charity No 291578) and is governed by a formal constitution.
