The National Traction Engine Trust

The N in NTET stands for National and so it was fantastic to go to Scotland and be based in Aberdeen as the guests of the Bon Accord Steam Engine Club. The welcome from all we met was so warm and genuine, it was a shame to leave and come home. We saw superb collections, of engines, cars, commercial vehicles and tractors - plus a 15th century castle and the obligatory distillery, so much that the AGM itself was almost an afterthought. Passing without incident, it led on to a convivial dinner and an hilarious after dinner speaker who definitely had the Chairman in his sights that evening.

Hospitality flowed, and we are especially grateful to the excellent lunches provided for us at no cost by Mike Dreelan and Alfie Cheyne in particular.

The weekend of course was the swansong of AGM organisers Anthony & Wendy Thompson - standing down after this event - who with Michael Anderson of the Bon Accord Club, made it the occasion of a lifetime - and a very hard act to follow indeed. Thanks again to all who were involved - we will come back to renew friendships before too long I hope.
