The National Traction Engine Trust

As many of you know 2016 is the Steam Plough Clubs 50th Anniversary, and to help celebrate, we have been invited to be part of the world ploughing championships at York in September that year. We are hoping to put on a good show with as many engines as possible.

This obviously comes at a cost, so we are looking at various ways of raising funds to make this possible.

We propose having experienced rally photographers giving tuition on steam and general rally photography at selected rally(ies) to small groups of amateur photographers. There would be a wide range of subjects covering traction engines and  ploughing by steam with ideas for capturing those easily missed moments, with the experts pointing out some of the tricks of the trade with a focus ( pardon the pun) on the basics for beginners, together with the finer points for the more experienced users. There is a competition element as well to whet your appetite, as at each event the best picture will be chosen on the day and a best of the best at the end of the year. The donation would be either £15 or £20 per person, depending on how many entrants book to attend a particular event, and for this they would get an hours in depth tuition from accomplished experts such as Malcolm Ranieri an James Hamilton, to name but two. The rest of the day could be spent putting all that theory into practice. We are hoping to cover rallies all over the country, with groups of up to 10 having tuition for the hour.

So take advantage of this rare opportunity to hone your photographic skills and in doing so help us make our 50th anniversary bash a real show stopper.

Details of all the events covered will be available on the SPC website, but the current list reads as follows:

Banbury Rally 27 - 28 June - Malcolm Ranieri
Duncombe Park 5 - 6 July - David Warren
Much Marcle 18 - 19 July - Malcolm Ranieri
Masham 18 - 19 July - David Warren
Welland 24 - 25 - 26 July - Malcolm Ranieri
Gloucestershire Vintage Rally 31 July - 1 Aug - Malcolm Ranieri
Weald of Kent Rally 1 - 2 Aug - James Hamilton
Shoreham Heavy Horse (steam ploughing) 6 Sept - James Hamilton

We are also looking for additional 'Experts' to help us to offer the tuition at a wide range of venues, so please feel free to contact us.
