The National Traction Engine Trust

Some years ago it became apparent that some vintage tractors and stationary engines were being operated in public on a blanket club policy. The club members incorrectly thought that the insurance policy enabled them to drive their tractors on the rally field; in fact it only allowed for static non-running exhibition at club events. Once the insurance provider was made aware of the situation, the policy wording was changed to make it clear that for working exhibits and those driving in public, an insurance policy specific to the exhibit was required.

Unfortunately it seems that some exhibitors are not aware of their legal obligations.  It is suggested rally organisers should check the policy held is sufficient for the needs of the exhibitor.
