The National Traction Engine Trust

A report on the work of the Review Group was given by business consultant, John Douglas. Results of wide ranging consultation including questionnaires revealed there is general satisfaction with the way the Trust operates and there is overwhelming support for maintaining the Trust’s charitable status. Many members want greater value for money and with non-members being charged for services provided by the Trust such as boiler discs. 'Steaming' is strongly supported as the chief means of communication  but there are suggestions for other forms of communication. Many suggestions for new and different activities have been made but non have unanimous support.

For the activities suggested it has to be established how they can be developed. Core activities have to be provided for public benefit but it might be possible to establish trading subsidiaries and/or commercial partnerships.

Many suggestions have been made but these depend upon resources requiring both sufficient money and enough volunteers to carry the proposals forward. Detailed proposals will be made very soon some of which may require changes to the constitution.
