The National Traction Engine Trust

On 3rd March 2010 NTET Chairman, Robert Herring and David Smith, Head of Technical Services along with David Hurley - Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs, Dr Colin Billington - National Association of Road Transport Museums and Fraser Clayton - Historic Commercial Vehicle Society met with seven senior officers of the Department for Transport, Driving and Vehicle Licensing Agency and the Driving Standards Agency at the DVLA's Offices in Swansea.

During the meeting, which was conducted in a constructive and amicable manner, strong representation was made by each of the 'Interest Groups' for the retention of the status quo with regard to category B licence exemptions and all current arrangements. Subsequently it was agreed that the 'Interest Groups' would assist the Government Officers to assemble a case for the retention of the current category B licence exemptions for presentation to the Commission in Jan/Feb 2011. The work will be undertaken over the next 3 to 4 months
