The National Traction Engine Trust

We have received a request for help from the Darlington Railway Preservation Society.

The message is as follows:

I am enquiring on behalf of the Darlington Railway Preservation Society as to the possibility of sending a circular or putting an event on the events page for a steam weekend we are having on the 18th and 19th August, 10-4, at the Old Stockton and Darlington Goods shed, next to Head of Steam Museum, Darlington. We have spent the last 2 years restoring a full size Peckett steam engine, which unfortunately, due to lack of funding, is being hired down near Oxford instead of locally. We are holding an open weekend to send the engine off,we will have a raffle, 2 miniature railways on site, refreshments, displays and some practical displays also, and would be very grateful if any owners felt they would like to come along to add to the event and showcase their traction engines, whatever size. Unfortunately, we are a small charity with very little resources, and so it is unlikely that we can provide coal, however, water is not a problem and we can provide tea, coffee free of charge. There will also be the local paper in attendance, with the chance to be included in this photo.

If anyone is interested, they can find further details at our website: http://www.drps.org.uk and e,ven if people can pop round for only an hour, we would greatly appreciate their time and effort.

Thankyou very much
