The National Traction Engine Trust

Following some comments made by a rally organiser, the Trust would like to make clear its views on engines moving at events.

The NTET authorises shows and events nationally to encourage and support owners 'Preserving Our Heritage with Steam on the Road'.

Where it is safe to do so we encourage all engine owners and drivers to use the vehicle in accordance with current legislation and good working practices.

At all events it is the event organisers’ responsibility, in conjunction with the event safety officer and other decision makers, to decide where, how and when to move vehicles on their site. If it is considered unsafe for the movement of vehicles including those driven by steam, such as very wet conditions or very dense crowds ,the show organizer, or their representative, should advise exhibitors accordingly.

It is not the policy of the NTET to restrict the movement of vehicles being exhibited at events, unless done so in an unsafe manner where the show organiser will be informed. The event organiser makes the final decision on all matters relating to the operation of their event.
