Joseph Orlando Lawley

Landy Lawley died on New Year's Eve at the age of 91. He was a well known figure on rally fields around the country with his two sawbenches. He travelled widely with the saws to Europe as well as here in the UK
His interest in steam stemmed from his days working for Wynns in the 1930’s hauling timber and abnormal loads, once walking from Glasgow to Swansea as a trailer brakeman. He was responsible for felling a 60 foot oak at Powys Estate for the repairs to York Minster roof after the disasterous fire. A quiet man , full of humour, whose advice and guidance on all things timber will be sadly missed.

The funeral will be held at St Nicholas Church in Churchstoke, Nr Montgomery on Saturday 11th Jan at 12 noon.
