The National Traction Engine Trust

Earlier this year the NTET was asked to support a bid by Lincolnshire Council Archives Department for grant funding a project to catalogue two important industrial collections, namely Aveling-Barford and Robey. The chairman was pleased to support this application because such records are so important to members who want to research the history and assist in the repair of engines and other artefacts manufactured by these two important companies.

The bid has been successful and now a grant of £44,00 has been made available which will finance work on the collections for eighteen months. Starting in April 2012 the two collections will be catalogued and there will be online access to the http://www.lincstothepast.com/ website making it possible to view selected drawings, photographs and other documents to illustrate the range of resources available.

No doubt those members interested in the products of Aveling-Barford and Robey will be delighted with this news. In addition the Trust wishes the team at the Lincolnshire Council Archives Department every success in their endeavours to catalogue these two very important collections of documents.
