The National Traction Engine Trust

Following a recent question put to the National Traction Engine Trust from a concerned member regarding how changes due to be implemented for historic cars by the DVLA and EU in 2017 may well effect our steam vehicles, head of Techinacal Services at the Trust David Smith has asked  Bob Owen, (Legislation Committee Chair) of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) for an update following the recent election. More importantly, if it comes does down to detailed negotiations that the National Traction Engine Trust be part of the representation to the Department of Transport and the EU on the subject of roadworthiness testing and the EU proposal to re-define the requirements for the ‘historical vehicle’ class.

Whilst this may not answer the question directly (there currently isn't an answer), please rest assured we are working with the FBHVC on the subject of Roadworthiness Testing and the attendant potential for the re-definition of 'Historic Vehicle'.

If any member has any further concerns on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact us.
