Report of the General Council Meeting 10th June 2012

The report is based on the draft minutes of the meeting. Present were the chairman and 12 council members.

Chairman’s Report
• Tim Holt has retired and John Paulson has resigned from the executive
• Lance Jackson is now head of the RO Committee.
• The SCCGB has accused the Trust of “creating the fear that boilers in steam cars are dangerous". The Trust has adopted the spirit of PSSR 2000 and is willing to meet with the SCCGB members and HSE to discuss this matter.

Treasurer’s Report
• The draft financial accounts for the year were presented and accepted.
• There is a surplus of £10,752
• Membership is now 2327

• Members only section for the website - to include an index to ‘Steaming’.
• A proposed Services Directory will be discussed at a later date.
• A presentation pack on the work of the Trust is to be made available.
• Possible charges for non-members applying for insurance discs.
• Consideration being given to the Trust establishing its own insurance brokerage.
• Possibility of free insurance package for members which would include legal representation.
• Improved display of engines and information at selected events.
• A working party on membership is to meet on 30th June, 2012.

Malcolm Harbour MEP has accepted the position.

Vice President
A proposal was made.

SAC Report
• The Burrell project is to be launched at GDSF on Wednesday 29th August 2012
• Build days for the model are planned for the winter months.
• A parents and apprentices day is to be held at South Cerney Rally on 3rd August 2012.

EO Report
• The driving days were successful with 43 students attending.
• A proposal for an Archives and Records policy was submitted.

RO Report
• Training day to be held in the autumn.
• Planned update for the RO Code of Practice.

Commercial Section Report
Val and Colin Brown will be retiring from running ‘sales’ at the end of the 2013 season.

TSU Report
• Work on updating the website continues with Paypal to be introduced shortly for the online purchase of books, etc
• An application for a single licence for water extraction for multiple use has been rejected.

• Executive Council minutes will be circulated to council members prior to the next council meeting.
• Silverstone have again asked for assistance in running the steam section at their ‘Classic’ event.
