The National Traction Engine Trust

As yet David Smith, Head of the Technical Services Unit here at the National Traction Engine Trust has not been able to find someone to take over the Technical, Insurance and Legislation – including negotiations – brief of his office.

The role, which on occasion can become onerous, does require a great deal of time in sifting through emails and government postings when determining whether or not a particular topic might affect our hobby. It also requires a detailed understanding of RTA, Construction and Use and MOT legislation and also PSSR 200 and PED/PER legislation. A general understanding is required of the working of government departments and agencies such as DVLA, DVSA and DofT.

David continues to enquire amongst those I feel are appropriate, but members should feel to promote potential candidates to him also.
With respect the position is not the job for someone who is involved with bringing up a young family or for someone who is unable to attend the occasional daytime and long distance meetings with government or agency officials.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about this vital role within the Trust, please do not hesitate to contact David Smith directly via:
