The National Traction Engine Trust

The family of the late John Quick have kindly donated his papers dealing with the early days of the traction engine hobby. There are details of meetings of the National Traction Engine & Tractor Association, early NTEC newsletters, rally programmes, entry forms, newspaper cuttings and correspondence - all dating from the 1950's.

Here are the entries for the 1953 National Traction engine Rally at Appleford which was organised by the National Traction Engine & Tractor Association Incorporated:

It is good to see that two engine drivers are still going strong. They both joined the NTEC the following year becoming member number 2 and 35. John Quick was 54 out of 57 who joined in the first year. Membership increased sharply in the second year with a total of 134 members.

Our thanks go to Fenella Gray for this generous donation.
