The Great Dorset
Steam Fair
The
Great Dorset Steam Fair is widely recognised
as the leading event of its type in the country and, indeed, in
Europe. It is held on a mammoth 500 acre site at Tarrant Hinton,
near Blandford Forum and is regularly attended by over 200,000 visitors
from both the UK and abroad. 2004 sees the show in its 36th year.
For the ninth year the Badger
Brewery, the renowned independent family
brewer of Blandford Forum who brew Badger, Dorset Best and Tanglefoot
are the main sponsors of the show maintaining the link of two great
Dorset traditions. The Badger Brewery name has been respected since
1777.
2004 is the 50th anniversary of the National Traction Engine Trust.
We are very proud to announce that the Trust have asked the Great
Dorset Steam Fair to host a special celebration at our 2004 show.
The aim is to have 50 steam engines on show that have never previously
been seen on a rally field!. We are already well on the way to achieving
this feat.

The Super Sentinel registered number DX 9048, has just passed her 75th birthday, but she has been Navy property for only 35 years of that time. She started life right at the end of the '20s and was first owned by W M Brown, West Country flour transporters, in 1930.
In 1960 she was sent on permanent loan, to HMS Sultan in Gosport, Hampshire where she assumed the role she still plays today. A decade later, when they'd done a good deal of painstaking restoration work on the old Sentinel, the Navy acquired her.

Chipping
Steam Fair The first Chipping
Steam Fair was held in 1998 to support efforts to raise funds for
a new Village Hall. What was originally seen as a one-off event
has, through the overwhelming success of that first event, now become
a firm fixture in the calendar of many enthusiasts. The event
is held at the Chipping Show Ground. The village is beautifully
situated in the Forest of Bowland and the exquisite setting of the
Ground, in the shadow of Parlick Pike and the Bowland Fells, adds
to the wonderful experience that all show visitors witness.
So as we look forward to the last weekend in
May in eager anticipation we hope that you are able to join us in
what we are sure will be a great show!

Border Counties Vintage Club was formed in 1975, by a group of like-minded enthusiasts, who felt there was a need for a vintage club in the area.
Following a meeting it was decided to call the club the “Border Counties Vintage Club” as the formation took place at Symonds Yat – on the borders of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire & Monmouthshire.
The aims of the club, then, as now, “ARE TO FOSTER INTEREST, DISPLAY & PRESERVE ALL ITEMS WHICH COME UNDER THE HEADING VINTAGE”, and the membership is open to anyone who owns or is interested in vintage machinery & vehicles of all types.
