In order to encourage younger enthusiasts to join the preservation scene many 'Authorised Event' organisers give discounts to members of the Steam Apprentice Club or even allow them free entry. Such entries are marked 't'.

The NTET is a registered charity (Reg. Charity No 291578) and is governed by a formal constitution.
