Dorset Diary 2009

Well, it's that time of year again!!! Dorset Steam Fair is just around the corner and we'll try to keep you updated on whats happening LIVE from the Dorset rally field. If you're planning to visit Dorset this year please write in and tell us about what you did, the deadline for the next magazine is only a few days after the end of Dorset, so get putting pen to paper!

Day 1 - Wed 2nd Sep.

12:30pm

The Great Dorset Steam Fair has begun, the first few engines are moving around the playpen. The weather is overcast with light showers, so if you're planning a visit bring something to keep dry. We've had several superb entries for the model competition, as well as the art, colouring and photo competitions. If you stll have an entry for any of the competitions you can bring it to the SAC stand in the NTET tent by saturday morning at the latest. If you have visit the show please write in and tell us how your day went. You can send it to the webmaster at sac.webmaster@ntet.co.uk.

6:30pm

The first day here has been very wet, most of the engines were sheeted up early because of the slippery conditions. On the good side, the weather forecast does say this is meant to be the worst day, so hopefully we'll be posting some better news here in the next few days.

Day 2 - Thu 23rd Sep

Today has been a much better day than yesterday, the weather has been kind to us and not rained too much.
We placed several apprentices out on engines, and ran the cavalcade in the playpen. The apprentices who were able to attend had a chance to go on several engines before the rain came again.

Here are a few photos of the cavalcade, more photos will be added to a photo album next week.

Day 3 - Fri 4th Sep

3:30pm

Today he weather has been very good so far. Again we have placed several apprentices on engines.
For anyone wishing to come to us on Saturday morning, we may have a shortage of engines available to place apprentices on. We will place apprenties on a first-come first-served basis, so please try to get here early.
Weekend visitors - dont forget to bring your food for 'breakfast on a shovel'on sunday morning.

Day 4 - Sat 5th Sep

Today was another good day, John Reeves, Keith Honour and Chris Wells came to judge our competitions, the winners will be in the news section soon.
